Regresando al asunto de las entradas muy olvidables en mi blog, a pesar de tengo algunos borradores de posts, decidí en cambio hacer unos memes. Have un tiempo que no publico ninguno en mi blog y, no teman, que no son los fandom memes que tanto me gusta hacer, sino unos que encontré en la red y que te piden cosas tales como buscar canciones en tu reproductor musical, o buscar frases de películas.

Los memes están en inglés, pero los contestaré en español. Bienvenidos al mundo del internet y del Spanglish, queridos lectores (o, en todo caso, bienvenidos al espacio web de una blogger demasiado perezosa como para traducir el texto al español o escribir las respuestas en inglés. Esta última bienvenida quedó larga).

Obviando la primera parte del meme (ya saben de dónde obtuve este meme), tengo…

…Un wallpaper de Miles Edgeworth (Reiji Mitsurugi en la versión original japonesa) de Phoenix Wright, una saga de videojuegos para Nintendo DS a la que llego con retraso para conocer el fandom (el primer juego para esta consola portátil data de 2005). Bueno, ya saben fics de qué fandom me han tenido en vigilia últimamente…

¿Cinco razones por las cuales estoy usando este wallpaper? Pues…
1. Comenzando por lo obvio: PORQUE ME GUSTA EDGEWORTH.
2. En realidad, mi personaje favorito de la saga de Phoenix Wright (o Gyakuten Saiban, título original en japonés) es Klavier Gavin, pero no he encontrado ningún wallpaper de él aún.
3. Fue durante mi búsqueda por rincones obvios del internet (ya que comencé por la página oficial de CAPCOM) que encontré este wallpaper promocional para Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations (Gyakuten Renji en japonés) y decidí usarlo.
4. Y algo de notar sobre el wallpaper: el diseño está bien hecho, de modo que no me quedo con una imagen gigantesca que no me deja ver mis íconos en el desktop, o colores chillones, o un logo de un tamaño tal, que falla miserablemente en eso de darte mensajes subliminales para que compres el juego pero YA.
5. Y además, está el hecho de que el wallpaper nos muestra la impecable oficina de Edgeworth: como que te (des)anima para que tú arregles tu habitación/estudio/oficina con tanto pulcro orden modular.

Y si bien me pasé por alto la primera parte del meme (aquéllo de postear en Livejournal… principalmente porque no estamos en Livejournal), logré cumplir con dos siguientes partes, en especial con la que pide explicar el porqué tengo ese wallpaper en cinco oraciones. Sí, me salieron largas, pero siguen siendo sólo cinco oraciones. Contaditas.

Si la respuesta es “no”… Es el tema de clausura de la serie de tv Millennium y dura unos 33 segundos.
Longest song: Y una vez más, el “tema” más largo que tengo en mi iPod no es una canción sino la pista de un CD drama (esta vez de Sengoku BASARA. La canción más larga sería, entonces… P3′s Heaven Remix, una pista de 13:34 minutos que, como el nombre lo dice, es un remix de varios temas del juego de video Persona 3, compuesto por Masashi Meguro.

2. Nazo por Miho Komatsu, el primer tema de apertura del anime Meitantei Conan, y debería decir que el tema califica para legendario sólo por ese hecho. ¿Alguien sabe en qué número de opening vamos ya en ese anime? Hmmm, ¿por el treinta y tantos, tal vez?

4. Salva Nos II, compuesto por Yuki Kajiura. Es un tema del anime Noir, y tiene mucho sentido una vez que se traduce la letra del tema. Le cae a pelo para una historia sobre… asesinas. A pesar de lo que el título del tema les pueda hacer creer.
5. Watashi Banbutsu Hyaku Fushigi, compuesto por J.A. Seazer. Uno de los muchos temas del anime Shoujo Kakumei Utena. La banda sonora no desentonaba, dado el tipo de anime del que estamos hablando (o del tipo de director que tenía esa historia…)
6. Your Affection, versión live del tema de Persona 4. Como decía, debe notarse que me encanta la música de este videojuego…
7. Rhythm Emotion por Two-Mix, segundo tema de apertura del anime Gundam Wing. Y no me cansaré de repetir hasta el hartazgo que lo mejor que tenía esta serie de tv era la música… aunque también servía si querías reírte un rato con todos los espectaculares momentos wtf (completamente inintencionales) que a cada rato aparecían.
8. Melodies of Life por Emi Shiratori, tema de Final Fantasy IX. Bellísima canción que, en mi opinión, suena mejor en su versión en inglés que en la japonesa original.
9. Departure, Piano + Acoustic Guitar Mix, compuesto por Noriyuki Asakura (pues resultó que sí era el mismo compositor), tema incidental del anime Rurouni Kenshin.
10. Happy People por Skoop on Somebody, uno de los primeros temas de clausura de Bleach, nada más no me preguntan cuál de todos. Perdí de vista ese anime en el episodio 20 y hace rato que ya pasó de la marca de los 300.

El tema, Romance por Penicillin, canción de apertura del bizarrísimo anime Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo! Masaru-san. Hey, el meme no especifica si la palabra tiene que estar en el mismo título de la canción…

“you” – how many songs come up?: 58, y mencionaré la primera y la última: Your Affection de Persona 4 (¡ja! apuesto a que no se lo imaginaban, ¿verdad?) y YOU (qué directo) por Yuria, tema del anime Shuffle.

…No he seguido este meme al pie de la letra. Para empezar, sólo busqué frases de 10 películas, y al final del meme doy las respuestas.
Y, bueno, aunque quisiera decir que la frase número 3 es bastante obvia si saben en qué película japonesa de ciencia-ficción aparecen los neo-sapiens… El número 9 es el verdadero overkill. Mi queja tiene una razón más fandomera. Y es que luego de The Half-Blood Prince quise leer, una vez más, fics centrados en Draco Malfoy… Y escribo una vez más porque hace algunos años, cuando fue publicado originalmente el sexto libro, pedí recomendaciones en una comunidad de Livejournal. Esta comuna se dedicaba en verdad a sporkear malos fics y, platillo predilecto del lugar, Mary Sues; se abrió una discusión en torno al sexto libro y fue entonces en que pregunté si tenían historias para recomendarme. Recuerdo que sí expliqué el porqué me interesaba el personaje de Draco Malfoy y dejé anotado que en realidad no me gustaba la pareja Harry Potter/Malfoy, pero si tenían un buen fic con este pairing no me negaría a darle un vistazo. Después de todo, cuento historias que me parecieron tan bien escritas, que me hicieron cambiar de opinión sobre un personaje, una pareja y hasta todo un subgénero: si me hubiesen preguntado hace unos cinco años les hubiera dicho que no leía ni shotacon/lolicon o incest… pero eso fue antes de que conociera el fandom de Devil May Cry. Debo reconocer que, a pesar de lo que he escrito, realmente no tengo un fic único que me haya parecido muy bueno en este fandom, pero leí varios que sin pretender mucho fueron lecturas interesantes y entretenidas.

Regresando a la primera (y única) ocasión en la que pedí recomendaciones de fics, pues… Verán cómo es que los recs que recibí aquella vez todavía me inspiran rajes en el blog. Porque varias personas me recomendaron un fic conocidísimo en aquel entonces (he de suponer que todavía lo es), por una autora que yo había leído previamente en el fandom de El Señor De Los Anillos… pero de cuyo fic Harry/Malfoy no pasé del tercer párrafo. Y es que, sí, comprendo que si nos pidieran recomendar una historia, lo más probable es que mencionemos una que nos ha gustado mucho y que por eso recordamos. Pero, dejen que lo enfatice, si escribí que no me gustaba la pareja y andaba en busca de un buen fic que pudiera interesarme y hacerme cambiar de idea sobre el pairing, hmm… entonces una historia en la que Harry se encuentra con Malfoy, desnudo y aparentemente bajo los efectos de una poción mágica (elemento argumental de la más alta recurrencia en este fandom, diría) en el Bosque Prohibido, y todo esto en el primer párrafo, pues como que fomentar mi interés o hacer que reconsidere mi punto de vista sobre el pairing no logra. ¿Alguien reconoce la historia? Cuando comenté sobre esta experiencia con los recs y la forma en que definitivamente lograron hacer que me gustara todavía menos la pareja en otra comunidad en LJcom, algunos otros usuarios me dijeron que reconocían el fic… y, sí, estaban también de acuerdo con que no era la historia que tenían que haberme pedido que leyera para entrarle al pairing.

No he vuelto a pedir recs pero sí he revisé una comunidad dedicada a ofrecerlos. Y, bueno… Busqué en las 220 entradas más recientes (casi todo lo que se ha publicado en esa comunidad a lo largo de este 2009), y tendría que escribir aquí otro raje sobre cómo es que no sólo la calidad general de los fics ha bajado, sino también los criterios con los que la gente los analiza y cataloga. Porque ninguno de los fics allí recomendado me pareció bueno; algunos eran sencillamente malos, comenzando por la incapacidad de sus autores de redactar (hablando de gramática y ortografía) y terminando por lo misérrimo de las tramas. Diría que no podía esperar más (o tal vez menos) de las historias recomendadas si los pedidos rezaban fics con rating R o NC-17, con la pareja A/B, o B/C + D, pero nada de E ni tampoco F/G a menos que sea para hacerles bashing, que comiencen en tal evento e incluyan al menos un tipo de esta escena, y cuyo final sea feliz, oh, y si los personajes están IC mejor todavía. ¿Puntos bonos si los personajes están, bueno, in character? No sé entonces para qué se molestan en buscar fics con contenidos tan específicos. Si quisieran leer algo sobre Harry en donde él no es mago, sino policía, y no en Inglaterra sino Francia, y no a finales del siglo XX sino a principios, en un mundo alterno en donde la alquimia ha reemplazado a la tecnología, y él conoce a Malfoy, quien tampoco viene de una familia de magos ni es adinerado sino de modesta cuna, y no pasea su personalidad arrogante y engreída sino que es complaciente y humilde… ¿Qué nos queda que haga el producto final siquiera remotamente reconocible como perteneciente o derivado de Harry Potter? Porque en cualquier momento el autor nos sorprende y nos dice que en realidad no se llaman “Harry” y “Draco”, sino “Harold” y “Pablo” y los otros son sus seudónimos, de modo que ni en nombre los personajes se parecen de lejos a los originales. No soy canon nazi ni tampoco me molestan los AU, pero si la mezcla final de los ingredientes es una torta tipo aeropuerto (refiriéndome al platillo) que no es ni una cosa ni la otra… La red es vasta e infinita, así que si alguien quiere un fic así como lo he descrito, yo los mandaría a buscar en otro fandom o a leer otra cosa. No veo caso en buscar fanfics si lo que tú quieres leer en ellos es algo que no guarda relación con el producto original en el que en teoría debería estar basado.

La búsqueda fanfictera se me hace extradifícil porque, además, da la casualidad de que realmente no soporto a las que parecen ser las tres parejas más populares que tienen a Malfoy en la combinación: Harry/Malfoy, Malfoy/Hermione y Malfoy/Ginny. No estoy interesada en las dos últimas, y con respecto a la primera… bueno, ya conocen mis cuitas con ese pairing en este fandom.

¡Cambiando de tema! Pero quedándonos con los comentarios fandomeros. La compañía japonesa Kaiyodo sacará a la venta una línea de figuras Revoltech de Sengoku BASARA; la fecha de salida es dentro de algunos meses y todavía no ha anunciado los personajes, pero creo que se puede dar por descontado que los dos primeros serán Masamune y Yukimura. Mi hermano se pasó un año y medio coleccionando todas las muñecas de la línea Revoltech Fräulein (pueden ver una lista de los Revoltech en el sitio de HLJcom); cuando le comenté sobre Senbasa, naturalmente, no se mostró muy emocionado. No es fan ni del juego ni de ninguna de sus encarnaciones marketeras. Pero sí me dijo que, si acaso salía un muñeco de Oichi, le pasara la voz. Mi hermana lo escuchó y me dejó encargado hacer lo mismo si salía a la venta uno de Motochika. Como decía, ninguno de los dos es fan, pero gracias a influencias externas (se podrán imaginar de quién) tienen sus personajes favoritos. Hablando de muñecos, es increíble la forma en que Poison (de Final Fight) se agotó en HLJcom: me parece que la tienda nunca llegó a tener el muñeco realmente a la venta, sino que quedó descontinuado sólo atendiendo las preorders. Este PVC de Poison y los muñecos cabezones de Senbasa por Kotobukiya, en su primer y segundo set, fueron tres items que dejé originalmente en preorder en HLJcom… y que luego cancelé para poder comprar mi BJD. Este nuevo hobby mío es la principal razón por la cual ya casi no compro doujinshi, además… ¡En fin! Revisando en HLJcom acabo de ver que este PVC de Nero (de Devil May Cry 4) tiene un descuento del 50%; lo compraría a no ser porque con los gastos de envío me saldría cerca de $100, por una parte, y porque tengo otra orden pendiente para el próximo mes, la cabeza nueva para mi BJD, que actualmente es un poco frankensteiniano. ¿Algo de HLJcom que sí me parece muy ordeneable en este momento? Esta caja de gashapones con personajes de los tres juegos yaoi de Nitro+ Chiral, Togainu no Chi, Lamento~ Beyond The Void y Sweet Pool.

Después de leer el párrafo anterior nadie me creería si aseguro que ya no compro tanto en línea como solía hacerlo antes (efecto colateral del nuevo hobby en el ahora estoy), así que a mi favor quiero decir que los tres últimos paquetes que recibí no eran para mí, ni tampoco lo van a ser los cinco siguientes que tengo en preorder. La actual línea de Revoltech no interesa a mi hermano y éste se ha volcado a comprar PVCs en su lugar, y mi hermana y Meykyou, aparentemente, han descubierto las bondades de poder comprar por internet. ¡Y antes de que lo olvide! Y porque seguimos en el tema de HLJcom: como sabrán (…o tal vez no; todo depende de si son fans o no), este año se conmemora el aniversario 30 de la saga Gundam. Es por ello que, entre otras cosas, saldrá una serie de anime, Gundam UC (“Unicorn”; supongo que es un juego de palabras con UC por universal century), la primera que se ubica en la línea temporal original desde… ¿desde V Gundam, me parece? Desde el año 1993, entonces; fue poco después de transmitida esta serie que Sunrise comenzó con su línea de Gundams en universos alternos. Todavía no hay trailers de Gundam UC pero sí diseños de personajes y de mechas (publicados en revistas tipo Newtype), y por lo que me parece de su aspecto visual, diría que esta sería intenta acercarse a lo que fue Z Gundam. Eso sí, los personajes y la trama de la historia sí son conocidos debido a que el anime está basado en una serie de light novels. Y, bueno, todo lo mencionado anteriormente fue para contarles que este mes abrió en Tokyo una exhibición dedicada a Gundam, y resulta que el Green Tokyo’s Gundam Project incluye una réplica escala 1/1 del famoso mecha. En otras palabras, sí, fueron tan frikis que hicieron un modelo de 18 metros y todos sus detalles (al menos, los externos) del clásico Gundam RX 78-2. HLJcom tiene una galería de fotos, si quieren verlo (y deberían; ayuda en cierto modo a entender uno de los grandes íconos del anime/manga en Japón).

…Lo que definitivamente no me pareció tan interesante ni divertido fue responder a las preguntas del cuestionario, a pesar de lo que podría pensarse por ser un meme que cataloga tu tipo del humor. Me pareció que los chistes y las preguntas fueron vulgares y nada graciosas, pero entiendo que están allí justamente para medir tu respuesta ante ellas. O sea, es vulgar a propósito.

Bueno, tengo que decir que estoy satisfecha con la respuesta que obtuve (aunque… ¿mi humor es complejo pero al mismo tiempo, ligero? En fin). The short answer: Because the fandom made me actually hate it.
The long story: Final Fantasy VII was one of the first RPGs I played , and fell in love with it instantly. From the entire cast, however, that was one character I never liked, Aerith. I don’t know exactly why; maybe because she looked like your typical damsel in distress, ûbercute and all that jazz, but in actuality she was pretty independent, a decided woman, and able to kick your sorry butt if needed, with that “I can do it myself, thanks” attitude that screamed to keep a distant from her, at least to me.
But all in all, I was quite content just ignoring her for the most of the game. The

fandom, for some reason, couldn’t; for years fans would think that no, she isn’t

dead, that she’s going to come back and no, of course Cloud has some canon feelings

towards Tifa but he’s meant to be with Aerith, what does it matter if she is already

dead and this is the fandom, THE pairing is Cloud x Aerith, blah blah blah.
I’d almost got over the Cloud x Aerith pairing, until Advent Children came out

and FFVII was suddently revived by the fandom.

after watching Advent Children: the movie actually made me like Cloud, maybe

because his character was so different from the original overconfindent, a bit

of arrogant and perpetually confused spikey head as we knew him back in the game. In

AC, Cloud was so emo you wanted to smash him in the head to see if you could elicit

some reaction from him, and Vincent has always been the King Of The Pseudo-Nosferatus

In Your Videogame, dark, mysterious and aloof (but good-looking, if you’re thinking

vampires in the traditional way and not “Anne Riced-style”). I don’t usually like

angsty stories or pairings in my fandom, but there was something about the two of

them that got me interested. It may be that I’m fed up of so much crack in my fandoms

and am looking forward to more serious and darker approaches. In any case, my sister

still laughs at me when I tell I actually like this pairing, the Twin Rulers Of All

Emosity And Depressive Feelings according to her.

What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3?
I could almost bet is thinking of one of those loving

rapes I described to her (not graphically, of course) regarding this pairing, but

- NO. My ideal scenario would be as described in the third cd drama of Sengoku

BASARA 2: Masamune is watching stars in a clear night and pondering about things

(such as how do I look the better, with my default or second costume on?; I’ve

never had Masa for a deeply philosophical person in any case), when Kojuurou joins

him. They talk, they literally fight (have a duel, as requested by Kojuurou), and

everything finishes with Masamune flat on his back on the soil, and Ko on top of him.

Because Masamune loses the duel and it’s grounded, that’s why – let’s think a bit

metaphorically, please. Then, Kojuurou declares his undying love for his master –

naturally, to follow someone so reckless like Masamune to the grave even you have to

be either crazy or truly in love with the man. Masamune, in turn, tells Kojuurou that

he must follow him to every and anywhere he goes, and that means to death or to bed

if that’s the case.
Ok, maybe the scene didn’t happen like that and I’m exaggerating things (there was no

mention of going to bed together in the cd drama, unfortunately), but the whole drama was so

slashable…

What is your favorite moment for #1?
The second? CD drama, Guilty Gear X Black I think it is. If this moment

doesn’t scream
“OH THIS PAIRING IT’S CANON HELL YEAH” then I don’t know what it can be
considered as “proof”. Come on, Ishiwatari, just state once and for all
that there’s something going on between Sol and Ky. Well, it’s like this:
Ky is looking for a person in the middle of a battle, and Sol goes to
“retrieve him”. In the first scenario, Ky is fatally wounded and dies in Sol’s arms;

this is the only time I remember the latter referring to Ky by his
name (or rather, screaming his name).
In take two of the same event, a time travel prevents Ky from dying.
He’s found by Sol just in time and both of them have a little chat; I was expecting

a love declaration since we were in the
mood already, but instead the scene ends with Ky stating that with Sol by his

side, he feels safe. And since I’ve described two scenes instead of only one

(though both involve the same circunstance), I’d say I prefer the latter. Like the

fandom says, it’s just so obvious, it’s a canon evidence!

How long have you been following couple #6?
Since the very first time I saw a doujinshi featuring the pairing. Which, by the way,

happened before I even reached the part in the manga where Kanda is reintroduced in

the story and it’s showed he and Lavi actually met each other. (And that must have

been early this year, when I first learned about D.Gray-Man.)
I’ve
read some fics as well, but the pairing is far more popular in the
Japanese fandom it seems. I guess it’s because of the interaction/good
chemistry between the two of them: the laid-back yet mysterious seme and
the bad-tempered uke. No wonder doujinshika can manage wonders when
“working out” this pairing.

What’s the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring?
The story: I never, EVER, liked Sirius Black. Remus Lupin, I love since
he first stepped into scene; I love his quiet and sympathetic character.
Then, it was book 5 and that sequence with the Marauders; in general
terms I don’t like high-school stories, but I liked the idea of seeing
the four friends in their school days. Since HP is THE FANDOM in
internet, finding fics centering around this pairing wasn’t hard at all, and I
read some good stories that made me love it, and even stop disliking
Sirius Black that much.
But then again, you know, it’s the HP fandom. People still think Sirius
isn’t dead, others hate Rowling because she “gave Lupin a heterosexual
partner”, and some laughable matters made me retreat from the fandom
at once.

What interests you about #14? (Sakon Shima x Mitsunari Ishida)
Hmmm, the first thing that got my interest about Sengoku Musou 2 was

Mitsunari; I have this thing for characters like him, arrogant, sort of bad-tempered,

so ukeable. Then, finding out about the pairing was just something that “happened”; it’s

pretty popular in the Japanese fandom that you take a peek at a fansite featuring Mitsunari and/or Sakon, and you’ll most likely find something (fanarts, fanfiction) about the two of them together. I guess I like it because of the same

reasons I like the Kojuurou x Masamune pairing in Sengoku BASARA, the

master-servant relationship. There’s much more to the relationship that plain

servitude, though, such as loyalty to one’s lord and dedication to a cause that might

appear as already hopeless.

When did you stop liking #7?
Because of the same reason I explained in a previous comment: damn
fandom. There was a time when the Yuugiou fandom in Spanish was
relatively small, and I liked it that way; I fangirled a lot and wrote
some crackfic which was horribly OOC and was content with it, hah. But
then the series became popular, everyone who could smash the keyboard
thought he could write something nice as well, and the fangirls burned my
brain with their claims of how kawaii the characters were.
…OK, I like these “atypical” pairings (difficult couples with clashing personalities, a bit of the infamous rival slash dynamic), but at least I don’t think you can pair two people because, see, one of them calls the other “loser dog” and that’s intended as a term of endearment, therefore they’re showing each other their hidden feelings, blah blah blah. Wtf.
Yep, I hate you, YGO fandom. Even if you’re still the fandom I was more
active at.

Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show? (Cloud Strife x Tifa

Lockhart)
Hmmm, no, really. I’ve never been that interested in the Final Fantasy VII

fandom, and the game, I played it years ago and that was it. I became interested in

the pairing again with the release of Advent Children (wiiiii, Cloud and

Tifa are finally living together as a couple! Me happy!), but then the fandom

counterattacked with its neverending shipping wars. At that point I convinced myself

to expeditiously retreat from the fandom, and return when Final Fantasy VII XYZ

Compilation of 20th anniversary Square-Enix Still Can Exploit This Franchise is

announced, or something. I’d bet, thought, that by that time Cloud and Tifa will be

raising their children, but the fandom will insist Aerith is the true and only woman

(even if dead) meant for Cloud.

What’s a song that reminds you of #5?
Ho~ I’d mention a technocumbia or a chicha, only if I knew about any song from these

genres. Just to laugh a bit at the fandom, that’s always thinking of fan remixes,

songfics and the such. I’m not a musical person at all, sorry.
But if it comes to

Xenosaga, and particularly to Shion and KOS-MOS, I do tend to relate them with

songs from the soundtrack (which I love). Hepatica makes me think of both of

them, maybe because the theme was played in the promo videos in which Shion and

KOS-MOS were shown together. I relate this song with the scene when Shion finds and

“wakes up” KOS-MOS; as the latter tells her good-morning and asks if there’s

something wrong, Shion replies that there’s not, and embraces her while

crying.

Which of these ships do you love the most?
I’d say Sol x Ky. I’ve been into this pairing since the release of the original

Guilty Gear game, almost a decade ago. I’ve since them lost interest in the

saga because of the many, excessive spin-offs and the fact that the GG games lack an

actual plotline since Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival, but the SxK

pairing is still one of my favorites. I just need Daisuke Ishiwatari stating that

they’re canon to die of sheer fandom happiness but then again, practically all GG

players I’ve come across in the past have no problems admitting that they’re so

obvious the way they are, even if those fans don’t like yaoi.

Which do you dislike the most?
Hmmm, Cloud Strife x Aerith Gainsborough. But just because I really dislike the girl

in a pink dress.

If you could have any of these two pairings double date, who would it be?<
Now, what kind of question is this?br>
…But you know, I’m going to answer it because.
And I say Lavi & Kanda with Motochika & Motonari. Why? Because I want to see how the

couple of ukes most likely try to kill their respective semes in a bout of rage,

angry at the idea of double-dating. There would be blood, broken bones, missing

limbs, explosions and falling debris, among others. I know, my idea of a date isn’t

very PG or romantic, but it’s that I’ve never liked fluffy stories or pairings, and I

find a couple all the more interesting if they have some more “physical” interaction,

and maybe killer instincts.

Have #2 kissed yet? Elaborate if you’d like. (Shiki x Akira)
No, they haven’t. And this is sort of… weird… maybe, since they meet in the game,

try to kill each other, have sex in a number of places and circunstances, in the

“official ending” go on living together, but are never shown kissing each other.

Perhaps because a kiss would be romantic and this (canon) pairing is anything but

that.
And no, I don’t think I’d like to see them kiss. Because I’ve never really think of

them as a couple in love or particularly romantic, and that’d spoil my view of this

pairing as a pretty atypical yaoi couple.

Did #4 have a happy ending? Do you think a happy ending is likely? (Motochika

Chousokabe x Motonari Mouri)
A happy ending? Why, yes! You see, in the game Motonari fights Motochika (your usual

struggle for political power, lands, influence, you know the drill); the latter

pities him because he “is a lonely man with no friends or allies”, which causes

Motonari go in a I-hate-you-I’ll-kill-you-die-die-die fiesty mood. So~

Motonari kills him and then, in the middle of a desolated battleground, among dead

soldiers and wounded men, he beholds the dawn and declares that this is true

happiness.
Romantic, if you ask me.
And to think this is the basis for the ChikaNari pairing in the fandom.
But, really, if there’s something Sengoku BASARA doesn’t have, and most

probably will never feature, is some plot continuity. So it’s a sure bet to assume

Motonari’s story will be ignored for upcoming SB games, that his story mode in SB2

never really happened, that Motochika and him actually get more attention from

CAPCOM’s part in the future and we’ll see more of them, and therefore that the

ChikaNari pairing will be as popular as always.
Ah, yes, regarding the second question. I suppose a happy ending is likely for the

two of them; or at least, an ending that doesn’t involve any of the two killing the

other. In canon terms, I’m looking forward to more interaction between Chika and Nari

in upcoming SB games; CAPCOM seems to point the fans’ attention in that direction, in

any case (what with the release of the BASARA Style Vol. 4, which will be

centered around both of them. And about the fandom… we the fans like to think of

them as a pairing with lots of (angsty) possibilities. Me, you know I like the

“combination”: the happy seme + the bad-tempered uke. All the better if they happen

to be just as romantic as Chika and Nari – fluff has never been my thing.

What would make you start shipping #14? (Sakon Shima x Mitsunari Ishida)
Er… Playing the actual game, maybe. So far I only have Sengoku Musou 2:

Empires, but haven’t been playing because of time – and because I don’t actually

like SM’s gameplay as I happen to love the absurdity and simplicity of Sengoku

BASARA 2.
Anyway, I’d have to see more of the pairing in canon to have a better idea of both

characters and the fandom’s view on them. If only the game itself weren’t so…

lackluster for me.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer – #2 or #6?
Number 2 is already canon – well, if you play Togainu no Chi with Shiki’s

route at least. But if I were to choose a pairing, I’d still say Shiki x Akira. I

really like the Lavi x Yuu Kanda pairing, but there’s something about them that tells

me that they “look better” fandom-wise.

Hablando de trabajos y tareas, el jueves fue la última presentación en trad. econo-financiera inglesa. La profesora, que no en vano es graduada de la facultad y tiene varios años enseñando, se las conoce todas; lo común es que uno sólo se presente para hacer su exposición y luego se haga humo (pues, yo hice lo mismo en el curso de Filo de la Ciencia, así que puedo decir que la profesora tiene toda la razón del mundo). Para el curso de trad., sin embargo, la profesora anunció que pondría nota por asistencia (que sería como una nota de práctica), y nadie se lo creyó. En fin, llegó el día jueves y la profesora pasó lista, anunciando que al parecer yo era la única que tenía la asistencia completa a toda las exposiciones, pero que de todas maneras mis notas de prácticas ya eran bastante buenas.

Es la primera vez en que me ponen una nota BUENA por asistencia, en serio. Este incidente ha pasado, desde ya, a los anales particulares de mi historial en la uni, y ya tengo qué contarles a mis nietos cuando me pregunten qué hice de bueno mientras estudiaba mi carrera. Como dijo mi amigo Therion, a él la profesora también le puso una nota por asistencia, pero fue un 07. En fin.

¿Qué he estado haciendo cuando no he estado en la red? Aparte de buscar fansites japonesas de Sengoku BASARA, no sé en qué se me ha ido el tiempo de calidad que he compartido con mi PC. Y ahora, más frikismo. Éste es un meme que vi en el blog de , y en vista de que el sétimo libro de Harry Potter sale en unas tres semanas… Atención, aquí hay un bashing de Harry Potter bien grande, como para que se vayan dando cuenta de que a mi no me gusta el personaje principal. Digo, ¿no?

Cinco cosas que me gustarían que pasasen en HP7, y que probablemente pasen:
1. ¡La saga se termina! ¡Y jamás volvemos a ver un libro de Harry Potter… con Harry Potter de protagonista!
2. Draco Malfoy aparece por algún lado. Lo reconozco, el chico jamás me cayó por ser loser a la potencia máxima, pero de que su personaje tenía potencial en la historia, lo tenía. Culpo a Rowling por ponerlo perdedor durante 5 libros y luego, emoearlo cuando el chico al fin tenía personalidad e importancia en el libro 6. Vaya manera de malograr un personaje.
3. Ginny, demostrando que es una mujer hecha y derecha y con más pantalones que Potter (además de medio masoquista), se queda con éste porque, bueno, el amor definitivamente es idiota. A pesar de todo, me gusta la pareja.
4. Neville Longbottom regresa a tener importancia y participación en la trama. Nunca me llamó mucho la atención en los primeros libros, pero me cayó bastante simpático en el libro 5. Lástima que no aprovechó para matar a Potter y robarle el rol de protagonista de la saga, ya que lo hubiera hecho de maravillas.
5. La saga termina con un FIN (NO JODAN NO VOY A ESCRIBIR MÁS DE POTTER PORQUE YA SOY ASQUEROSAMENTE RICA FIRMADO ROWLING JAJA) bien grande y así es como nos enteramos, ahora sí con todo el canon del mundo, de que Sirius Black se murió hace tres libros y no, fangirls del demonio, no va a revivir.

Cinco cosas que NO me gustarían que pasasen en HP7, y que probablemente pasen:
1. Potter se pasa de heroico a pesar de su desubicaína crónica, y es recordado por los siglos de los siglos como el gran tipo que sin hacer nada en particular, salvó el día.
2. Potter recibe toda la atención en el libro, se pasa como 300 páginas angsteado y las otras 300 siendo heroico gracias a terceros, y el resto del cast jamás recibe lo que en otras instancias es conocido como desarrollo de personajes mínimo.
3. El epílogo es lo más cercano a cayó la roca, todos mueren. No quiero decir que la Rowling vaya a cargar con todo el cast, sino más bien que por falta de espacio/tiempo/inspiración deje trescientas cosas sin explicar, o vuele personajes de buenas a primeras sin mayor explicación. Y todos sabemos que como Potter y sus amigos tienen el spotlight aquí, el resto de segundones (que son infinitivamente más interesantes) recibirá pues una mención honrosa al final, a lo sumo.
4. Descubrimos que Snape es MAAAAAAAALO. Muy MAAAAAAAALO. Y que por eso hizo lo que hizo. Y… Y… Aquí se supone que la Rowling debía explicar porqué es tan MAAAAAAAAAAALO, pero sucede que ya se le acabó el libro, así que chau. The End.
5. “Y así, Harry Potter muere a la avanzada edad de 78 años, rodeado de todos sus nietos y siendo muy, muy feliz…” No sé si pasará así, pero demonios que ese final me fregaría toda la saga.

Cinco cosas que me gustarían que pasasen en HP7, y que no pasarán ni de coña:

1. Los Death Eaters se dan cuenta de que han sido unos cojudos durante toda la saga, y deciden matar a Potter descarrilando el Expreso de Hogwarts con 600 kilos de dinamita y anfo. El problema es que cuando vuelan al fin el tren caen en la cuenta de que Potter no viajaba con el resto de los estudiantes, ya que él dejó la escuela en el libro anterior. Ay chú.
2. Voldermort se harta de los métodos mágicos dizque tradicionales y opta por pegarle un fonazo a un sicario que le cobra 300 dólares por aparecerse en el umbral de la casa de los Dursley y llenar de huecos a Potter. De paso, mata a sus tíos y primo para eliminar todo rastro de testigos, y quema la casa con 30 litros de gasolina sólo por si se le fue algún detalle en la ejecución.
3. Potter decide que ya le llegó Voldermort, se pega 30 kilos de dinamita al cuerpo y sale corriendo hacia su némesis para volarse ambos y dejar un bonito hueco en la faz de la tierra. De todas las cosas que no pasarán ni de coña en el libro 7, ésta es la menos probable ya que, como dicen mis hermanos, éso es de machos, y por eso Potter jamás lo haría.
4. Voldermort ve corriendo hacia él a Potter en su faceta de terrorista suicida árabe, tira su varita a un lado, se mete la mano al bolsillo, saca una Mágnum 357 y le mete un tiro en medio de los ojos mientras le grita, “¡come plomo, malnacido!”
5. Potter y Voldermort se miran como media hora, uno con el dedo sobre el detonador de los 30 kilos de dinamita y el otro apuntando con su Mágnum 357, cuando en eso llega Snape acompañado por Malfoy, les vuela a cada cual la cabeza de un balazo y luego dice: “Eso les pasa por pasarse de pendejos y estar siete libros sin hacer nada. Ahora, Draco, bolsiquea los cuerpos a ver qué tienen de bueno. Todo ha salido tal y como yo lo planeé… Ya ven, si me hubieran dado la chamba de profe Contra Las Artes Oscuras no hubiera tenido que apelar a estos métodos…”

Estoy segura que los spoilers del sétimo libro se colarán a la red mínimo una semana antes. Entonces podré ver cuántas cosas de este meme se me cumplieron y en cuántas me fregó la Rowling, porque no creo que este año vaya a poder comprarme el libro dentro de las 72 horas luego de su lanzamiento, como hice hace un par de años. No creo que valga la pena (en cambio, si fuese un libro de Pratchett…)

Disculpen por el largo de estos dos memes, si es que han tenido la paciencia de leerlo todo. Se me salió el lado florístico de la expresión tipeadora escrita de nuevo.

[EDITADO] Oh, Dios mío. Mi hermano acaba de terminar de ver el episodio 13 de Lucky Star (en RAW) y casi se nos sale el cerebro por los oídos. Estaba esperando a ver qué canción sacaban en el karaoke, pero… esto… qué wtf… sin palabras.

[EDITADO 2] Bueno, sí hay palabras. El asunto con Lucky Star es que en una encuesta ganó Minoru Shiraishi como “personaje más popular” o algo así, y por eso el… seiyuu, creo… sale a cantar el tema de clausura, titulado algo así como Lo que se me olvida. Eh… wtf.

Pues bien, tengo una comisión de traducción en la que ando trabajando. La palabra comisión le cae bastante bien; una ex condiscípula del colegio recibió el trabajo de un primo suyo, pero por cuestiones de tiempo se lo pasó a una amiga, y esta amiga (por las mismas razones) me lo derivó a mí. No es un texto particularmente difícil de entender… Pero sí es bastante técnico, ya que se trata del manual de uso de un equipo mezclador de sonido. Lo estoy avanzando lentamente porque necesito buscar los términos y revisar si son los correctos (en otras palabras, si así se dice en español y se usa acá). Puede que me demore 2 horas en avanzar sólo 3 ó 4 páginas… Y para traducir el texto, debo estar en casa y con mi computadora (intentar hacerlo en la universidad sería como para pegarme un tiro por la frustración, luego les cuento porqué), así que sólo me quedan libres las horas luego de clases… Pero a las 11 de la noche lo último que quiero es ver más traducciones. Quiero y debería terminar el texto para mañana, pero me falta más de la mitad.

Veo ahora que debí haber quedado en cobrar más por la traducción (no pensé que sería tan complicada a primera vista), pero es parte de la ética de un traductor no hacerle la trastada de decir un precio y luego venir a cobrar más. Lástimo, en serio. Como sea, el pago que recibiré por la comisión solventará mi camino hacia esa premium account en JPqueen, o ya que mi hermana está que me lo reclama desde hace un tiempo, ese reproductor mp3 que le estaría debiendo por su iPod.

Otra razón por la que andamos ocupados en casa (aunque reconozco que es mi hermana la más atareada) es porque mi mamá fue operada al principio de esta semana. En toda la tradición de la familia y su larga historia de (falta de) comunicación, ella jamás me dijo que se iba a operar el día lunes; fue mi abuela la que me lo comentó. No ha sido nada realmente serio; una operación que ella estuvo postergando desde el año pasado, ya que fue justamente a principios de éste en que le diagnosticaron un mal a mi abuela y mi mamá tuvo que hacerse cargo de cuidarla. Sucede que mis tías, hermanas de mi mamá, han venido de Japón para visitar a mi abuela y, justamente, darle una mamá con su cuidado (comentarios al respecto: ajá, ahora que tu abuela friegue a tus tías; claro que queremos mucho a mi abuela, pero en toda la costumbre de nuestra familia por el lado femenino, la mujer puede ser fregadísima cuando se lo propone, y no hay nada más pesado que atender a un convaleciente que se hace el difícil). Mi mamá regresó de la clínica ayer, y estaba de lo más normal, aunque cansada, pero hoy apenas puede levantarse de la cama. Es que el efecto de todos los analgésicos y demás medicamentos ya ha pasado… En todo caso, como mi hermano está en el instituto toda la mañana y yo, por lo común, toda la tarde hasta la noche, es mi hermana quien se queda a cuidarla.

…Ya que mi hermana decidió dejar su instituto para pasarse a la Toulouse-Lautrec. Se desanimó de su anterior centro de estudios porque varios de los profesores que enseñaban allí dejaron el instituto, y sus compañeros de clase hicieron las averiguaciones para descubrir que la diferencia en los pagos en la Toulouse no era realmente tan grande. Claro, en una de las carreras técnicas que ofrecen, porque otra cuesta como el doble de mi colegiatura en la universidad. Las clases de mi hermana comienzan a mitad de año, pero por lo pronto ella entrará a la pre.

Y ahora, me llaman escaleras abajo para darle el baño quincenal a Milo… Bañarlo no es tan difícil, secarlo sí que es un asunto que pide cálculos avanzados y por lo menos 4 brazos libres.

Ah, supongo que eso significa que tengo un raje-blog, ¿no? Y que la gente me lee porque se divierte con mis rajes. Eso debe ser.

This would make my second attempt of sorts at making a website not for my own use. And I say “of sorts” because, for this website, I’ve used a template and only had to work on the CSS a bit. Or a lot. I still need to finish the main banner for the site but it’s 2:25 in the morning and making graphics always leave with no ideas. As for my first attempt at making a website for others’ use, well, it was an original design for me that I still had to “fix up” a bit more; just for the record, I’ll tell you I wasn’t even aware that one of my creations had made it to the net.

Because that design was supposed to be my little RO fansite, but my sister “borrowed” the codes, copy-pasted them and made it into the website for a private RO server she was part of.

Ah, well, I didn’t like that design that much after all.

Anyway, if I’m updating my journal at this hour and am writing in English, that’s because I felt I had to spam my flist after being stuck with CSS and HTML codes most of the day. It relaxes me, writing in my blog. Almost as much as ranting. But you know that I usually ranting by writing in my blog, so…

That’s all I can think of, for now. Anyway, I think the one and only pairing I’ve always worshipped and will alway worship is Sol Badguy x Ky Kiske from Guilty Gear. Worshipping since 1999 and still counting…

The first game of the GG saga was released in 1998, nine years ago, and despite being a “cult game” for some time, it wasn’t a true hit until the second title, Guilty Gear X: By The Side, released two years afterwards. I still remember the recurrent theme of discussion in most GG’s forums, you know, if a certain long-haired bad-ass anti-hero actually has something with a very bishounen, religion-obsessed swordsman.

It seems that after 19 games in the sage (though more of them are “versions” of the same title), nobody questions this issue in the fandom anymore. No, really. Even Daisuke Ishiwatari, the creator of the games, went to the lengths of “illustrating” a certain piece of artwork of Sol and Ky with the legend hostility is akin to love, which has become the slogan for this practically-to-be-declared-canon pairing.

Now, I’d talk about the “evidence” found in canon about this pairing (particularly, the CD dramas, oh the gayness of them! (and my English dies with that sentence), but I’m sure I’ll turn this supposedly meme-entry into a shipping manifesto. So, let’s talk about the Bleach anime instead.

As I was saying, let’s talk about the Bleach anime. Because, you know, the filler finished 3 episodes ago after going on (and on, and on, and on) for over a year. Nothing really excited about the anime past that point actually, since the animation is still that crappy (sorry but it IS!) and the storyline… It’s just there. But the Arrancar are finally to make an appearance next episode, and it’s been revelead who the seiyuu for Ulquiorra and Grimmjow will be.

You know, I’ll download those episodes only to listen to the seiyuu (there isn’t much to do with a Bleach anime ep after all).

Ulquiorra will be voiced by, whoa, Takeshi Kusao. And I’m pretty sure you can’t place one role he’s played in his very long career, can you? Though he’s played very well-known anime characters, but in comparison to Koyasus, Hoshis, Mikis and other seiyuu, he’s rather hard to “place”. Well, he was Parn in Lodoss Tou Senki, his first important role back at the beginning of the ’90s. And – Trunks from Dragon Ball Z (oh, LOL), Krad in DN Angel, Kougaiji in Gensou Maden Saiyuuki, Hanamichi Sakuragi in Slam Dunk (oh, double LOL) and… And, of course, Ky Kiske in all and every game of the Guilty Gear saga, as well as the CD dramas. The ultimate bishounen! Well, at least for me.

Hmmm, I think I can place Kusao as Ulquiorra. But, wait, do you know who will voice Grimmjow? Keiji Fujiwara, who should be known for playing Maes Hughes in Full Metal Alchemist, but mostly because of his role as Reno in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and Axel in Kingdom Hearts II.

Him, I think I can place as Grimmjow.
In this case, Bleach will be the second anime I like listening to, right after One Piece (another great example of really poor animation for a cool manga series).
