Those long days passing by from that door, like late summer. They slowly fade away.

Heaven, Persona 4

Fangirlismus call!

English entry coming this way – just because this update features a meme survey I stole from in the language of Billy Shakespeare.

Frikism ahead. Or was it frikismus?

General ‘Ship Meme (Het, Yaoi, and Yuri.)
Your first fandom and pairing? Weiss Kreuz // Aya and Youji or viceversa.
The fandoms in which you read? EVERYTHING. No favorites in here. But WK remains a beloved one.
The fandoms in which you write? Yuugiou, Xenosaga. I’ve got other fics (DMC for instance) waiting to be posted , somewhere.
Your favorite Het pairings? Byakuya/Hisana (Bleach), Kaiba/Isis (YGO), Jr./MOMO (Xenosaga).
Your favorite Yaoi pairings? Youji/Aya (WK), Vergil/Dante (DMC), Sol/Ky (GG).
Your favorite Yuri pairings? Yuri? I don’t think I read yuri.
Favourite genres? Drama, crack!fic, romance, parody.
Least favorite Het pairings? ANYONE/Mary Sue. Argh argh.
Least favorite Yaoi pairings? I think I can handle mostly anything I come across.
Least favorite Yuri pairings? …Anything with Anzu included (YGO)?
Least favorite genres? Fluff.
The best overall fanfic author you’ve read? Hmm… Chalcedony Cross, P.L. Nunn, Nekojita. All write WK fanfics. Way better than the original work.
Why? Manage to make good plots out of crappy canon, awesome characterizations, yaoi yaoi yaoi.
The best story you’ve ever read? Er… I couldn’t tell. I’ve read lots, many good and excellent fics. Still thinking on a favorite…
The best story you have written? …Can you pick up the good from the trash? Ok, I think it has to be my LOTR parody. Love that one.
The worst story you have written? Guess that’ll be my YGO fic. Plot? Characterization? Canon? SENSE?! And purple prose!!! Aww pu-lease.
Do you leave feedback? Yep, I always try to.
Do you get feedback? Yep, and more feedback and positive comments I ever deserve.
Do you have any specific squicks? Shoutacon! Roricon! I got over incest thanks to DMC, by the way.
Do you have any specific pairings that squick you? …Hmmm, anything between a canon character and a painfully AWFUL Mary Sue?
How much time do you spend reading/writing? Reading: all the practical time I don’t spend trying to learn web design. Writing: it depends, but I’ve spent up to 5 hours in a row.
Have you made friends via your ‘shipping? Oh yeah.
What pairing do you feel absolutely strongest about? The one that irritates you the most to see broken up. (Het.) Jr. and MOMO from Xenosaga.
What pairing do you feel absolutely strongest about? The one that irritates you the most to see broken up. (Yaoi.) …Don’t know. I think I’ll be able to get over it, eventually.
What pairing do you feel absolutely strongest about? The one that irritates you the most to see broken up. (Yuri.) Don’t see/watch/read much yuri.
What pairing do you feel absolutely strongest about negatively? The one that irritates you the most to see in any way. (Het.) See above.
What pairing do you feel absolutely strongest about negatively? The one that irritates you the most to see in any way. (Yaoi.) Ah… Well… Can’t think of any just now… Whatever.
What pairing do you feel absolutely strongest about negatively? The one that irritates you the most to see in any way. (Yuri.) I mean, whatever.
What do you think of crossover pairings? If the crack is really good, I wouldn’t mind at all.
Has there ever been a pairing that you wish had hooked up in canon, but it didn’t occur? Er… Ryuuhou and Kazuma from Scryed? Crack! And Legolas and Gimli from LOTR. Whatever, I like that pairing.
Has there ever been a pairing that DID hook up in canon and you wished they hadn’t? Can’t think of any right now. Whatever. If it ever ocurred, I got over it. Really.
What pairing have you not written that you’d love to write? Kai/Jou. Don’t know, they shut my brain down each time I try to write a fic featuring them (together).
Do you go into a series looking for something to ‘ship or does it come naturally? As everything in this life, it comes along just naturally. It’s the way it’s meant to be.
Is ‘shipping a way of life? Of course, as long as the you’ve got the ship and not the other way round.
CREATE YOUR OWN! – or – GET PAID TO TAKE SURVEYS!

Some (LOTS OF) words regarding my ships in fandoms (otherwise this would be more of a boring entry; I need to write something!).

What was the first thing I did after learning how to navigate in internet? I searched the net for fics (because the first thing everyone does, I think, is to learn how to use your email). I’ve been lurking in FFnet since 2001, more or less (it opened in 2000). I still remember the first fic I ever read: it was a Weiss Kreuz story that my sister found and handed over to me; it was well-written and despise featuring the same plot you’ve seen in this fandom 928476057205 times before, it was acceptably well-done. It was enough to make a fan of… the fandoms?

My love story with the fandoms began there and then. That’s why I still cherished the Weiss Kreuz fandom as my most beloved one, despite the crack the original work is (fics are way better than anything bearing the name of WK, suck that, Koyasu).

But time passes and people change.
I used to read only yaoi fics, even 300 or more pages a day (ah~, back when I couldn’t even dream of having internet at home). I built in my collection of 726 fics – I know because I counted them, thanks. All of them were gone when our old computer was stolen, and that cured me of my fic fever. It was 2003 and stopped reading fics mostly because… There wasn’t a computer in which reading them.

My sister read some fics in our cousin’s computer, but stopped when she was caught by the owner of the PC in the middle of a pretty NC-17 moment (he was reading over her shoulder and she didn’t notice until he, too seriously for his 10 years, asked her whether the main two characters were homosexual for being engaged in a… sex scene).

Nowadays, I read fics only by rec or anti-rec, and check my favorite authors’ archive from time to time. It really annoys me to go fic hunting in The Pit, since the 40% of all materials in there are Mary Sues, 10% are crackfics, 20% are plainly awful trash, 20% is written by 10-year-old fanbrats who can’t spell their own names properly yet, 7% is acceptable material, and the remaining 3% is all the good you need. You’d say, it doesn’t sound that bad. Yeah really, it isn’t that bad until you intend to search something good among the 230,000+ fics featured in the Harry Potter section.

Anyway, I don’t stick to one fandom. I’ll always be reading fics of that particular title but – not that I’m married to a fandom and must remain faithful to it until death do us apart. It’s the same with yaoi pairings; I like this one, I like the other one, I don’t like the last one, but one good fic can make me change my point of view radically. Just see what the Devil May Cry fandom did to me.

Ok, enough for my love story now.
The one thing I’m left to say is:

, why did we have to talk about THAT crackfic back then? (I blame the turkey.) Why did I have to promise you to write it down? The pairing – I don’t like it but I can do with it. The characters – the seme, *drools*. The uke – just like blah. I was thinking of the general outline of the story so I can begin writing it for real NOW, and I realized is going to be more of a… dramatic crackfic?!

Hope you read this.
